Waiting for a Second Child: Yetunde's Testimony of Faith and Hope

When Yetunde welcomed her first child in 1997, she had little reason to anticipate difficulty having another. After deciding to expand her family in 2000, she expected pregnancy to follow naturally. Instead, the months passed without conception, bringing growing anxiety and questions from family and friends.
As her concerns deepened, Yetunde sought medical advice but remained uncertain about the next steps. In 2001, she confided in Yewande Zaccheaus, whom she affectionately called Mrs Zee. Having experienced nine years of secondary infertility herself, Yewande understood the emotional burden and offered encouragement, prayer and continued support.
A significant turning point came when Yetunde attended the Fruitful Vine programme at Fountain of Life Church in June 2001. The message, “Woman, Be Fruitful,” drew on Genesis 26:22 and the biblical account of Rehoboth. Yetunde left the fellowship with renewed faith and an inner peace she had struggled to find during the preceding months.
She continued drawing encouragement from the message, Scripture and the prayers of fellow believers. Weeks later, a pregnancy test confirmed the news she had been hoping for.
In February 2002, Yetunde welcomed her daughter. She also recalls experiencing professional advancement during that period, including a promotion and an international training opportunity, which she regarded as further expressions of God’s goodness.
Her testimony reminds us that the experience of waiting for another child can be just as emotionally demanding as waiting for a first. Through her uncertainty, Yetunde found strength in faith, fellowship and the encouragement of someone who understood her journey.
